Craft Runner

WELL, this post should be jam packed full of good things.  I've had a very busy week, and it has been amazing!

I suppose I'll start with Hands-On Day and post some pictures from it. It was a success.  Not everyone who signed up showed up, but that is ok.  That will happen with any event you have. I don't think I really need to much about it into words.  I'll let the pictures do the talking. (33 pictures equals 33,000 words, right?)

So much fun.

As much as I enjoyed it, I'm glad that is one thing I can mark off my to do list and focus on the next thing.

And the next things is the Leadership Summit! That is this coming Saturday, and preparations are in full swing.  Mostly all I have to do to get ready for it is put together the display for my table before the event begins. So I have my Marathon County 4-H tri-fold display that I made this summer all ready, and I made a small display about being a leader in 4-H.  I even went so far as to make a brochure about being a leader in 4-H.  Most of the brochures we have here are all about joining as a member, none as a leader.  So I put one together.  The reason I need information about being a leader is because this summit is for high school kids and adults.  Recruiting members is fine, but the high school youth would only be able to be in 4-H for a few years.  You can, however, be a leader at any adult age.  4-H is always looking for more leaders.  Leaders and volunteers are the backbone of the organization. I'm looking forward to it.  I just hope I can wake up in time.  I need to be there by 7:30 at the latest. (I'm so not a morning person.  My boyfriend says that will change...Any way to speed that change up?)

Well I'm about a month away from being half-way through my VISTA position, therefore, I need to come up with what will be my, for the sake of argument lets call it a capstone.  The sustainable programming I will leave behind.  I think I have figured out what that will be. I will write a set of curriculum guides for a 4-H based community service program for grades 4-8.  This will consist of three sets of curriculum and one leaders guide for each.  I will run a test pilot of this program with the Afterschool program in the school district I work in.  Here's hoping it works!

Next week I will be getting ready for the Financial Wellness Conference.  Luckily I won't have to do too much for it.

Until then!
